Elderly woman dead after crash near St. Augustine Shores
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a crash near St. Augustine Shores.
It happened at US1 and Southwood Lake Drive just after 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a Buick Century going south on US1 attempted to turn left onto Southwood Lake Drive when it drove into the path of a Honda Accord, hitting it and flipping it upside down.
The driver of the Century, 84-year-old William Sopper was taken to UF and Shands Hospital and is listed in critical condition. His passenger, 89-year-old Catherine Smith died at the scene.
The driver of the Accord, 19-year-old Anthony Gomez was taken to Flagler Hospital with minor injuries.
