GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- An Alachua County elementary school teacher and her husband were arrested last week as part of a drug investigation, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

The arrest report states Abigail Jeanne Hawker, 30, and Eric Buigas, 27, were arrested after marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in their Gainesville home.

Hawker and her husband face numerous charges including possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both have bonded out of the Alachua County Jail while they await their next court appearance.

The Metcalfe Elementary school website lists Hawker as a kindergarten teacher.

I agree with both of you and there should be more of us protesting this very minor misdemeanor! JSO has let a murderer go free to kill again over %30. but wants to put non violent, hard working educator in jail, plaster there pictures all over the news for nothing! I am totally ashamed of my home town police force. They should be doing their duty to protect and serve instead of letting people that will rob and kill you walk free. What is it JSO,were you afraid of a black on white murder ruining your reputation? Where were you when my friend was attacked and killed,in his own home over $30.00? Every week in your city there are multiple murders, people being run over on the sidewalks, children being kidnapped, raped and murdered! And all you have to spend your man power on is a little marijuana and a pipe? I have had friends who were on your force, some may still be there, and I was always so proud to call them friend. No longer, the glory days are over and Jacksonville will be known as a seedy, crime infested metropolis with police officers who can't or won't protect it's citizens but rather arrest ones who have done no harm. You have sullied the names and dedication of those officers who came before you.By the way, everyone knows that a good percentage of you partake of the very substances that you put others in jail for. Shame on you,do you sleep well? God have mercy on those who live in your war zone.

HOW IS THIS NEWS?! Oh GEE! They found a little pot and paraphernalia to allow her to smoke it.. are you guys serious? We are in the middle of signing a petition to legalize the crap anyways so WHO CARES. Crystal meth, now THAT would have been a story.. gtfo if your reporters are running out of stories to write about how about doing some private investigations into work harassment or work place bullying and the millions of people who commit suicide and/or drive up the companies overall health insurance rates due to horrible work environments which literally cause people to become mentally and physically ill.. just throwing it out there.
