JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Athletic Director Andy Kidd, of The Episcopal School of Jacksonville, announced Sunday morning that former Jaguar NFL quarterback Mark Brunell will be the school’s next football coach and program director.

Brunell spent the majority of his pro-football years playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars under then head coach Tom Coughlin. Most recently, Mark was an assistant coach for Providence in 2012 when the team advanced to the state playoffs.

“Episcopal is an ideal fit for me and my family and I am excited about this new chapter in my life,” Brunell said. “I look forward to this opportunity to continue to build a first rate football program at Episcopal.”

Brunell's first day on campus will be January 14th in preparation for high school football's 2013 season.

@tlynn No offense taken won't take me to write anyone ... They already know who his is! Derrick is a force to be reckoned with but someone is opening the holes and it happens to be my grandson...you seem a bit testy isn't this a comment page? why are all your comments telling people who cares? and why write it here. Thanks for your professional advise don't really need it thank you ... from the number of comment posts seems you need to get a life and be more positive. If I read you post to me chances are someone in sports read mine... maybe they will pass it along, luck is not what my grandson needs :-) Have a Great Day and God Bless.

@cdsmith…No offense intended, but do you really think that anyone involved with the school, let alone the team or coaches will be reading this? Might I suggest that you write a letter directly to the school, or to the coaches in ? the school. Good luck to your grandson.

Mr. Kidd and Mark, I am writing on behalf of my Grandson Nate Hoyle Right Tackle #70 for Yulee High School. please go to hudl.com and type in Nate Hoyle Yulee #70 He is the Tackle that opened the hole for Derrick Henry to run through on the TD that broke that 60 year record. he is 15year old the only freshman that made the VS team and plays Right /Left tackle. he bench presses 300 lbs and squats 500. He has already had One very well known coach come visit him at Yulee to meet him and see his size and another well known College coach came to the school also so although Derrick is a force to be reckoned with who's opening those hole for him. it's BIG NATE HOYLE #70 We know he has great potential and want the very best coaching. I know there are scholarships to the private schools here in town. He started out at Trinity Christain in Kindergarden - 4th gr then moved to NC and is back in Jacksonville his home. I am on FB and have many picture of Nate especially the TD winning record picture of Derrick with Big Nate Running beside him. my e-mail is cdsmith5591@comcast.net. I would love to bring him to meet you Mark and look around Episcopal Campus. I am his Grandmother I went to Lee when Corky Rogers was coaching and Ed Barrett. Long time Jags fan Mark had season tickets when you were QB Hopefully you will check Nate out we have high hopes for him. he is a great kid and makes good grades and all his parents support. He injured his knee two games before Bolles game and played in the Bolles game hurting I really believe Yulee would have won had he been his healthiest only lost by 10 and by end of 4th he was in very bad pain spent the night in the ER after the game. really needs knee braces to protect him during his HS career. He is tough!! won't complain if he's hurt and goes full speed for his team! Thank you for this opportunity to make my comment in his behalf hope you will take a look at him. Sincerely, Carol Smith cdsmith5591@comcast.net
