ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday strongly criticized stand-your-ground laws that allow a person who believes he is in danger to use deadly force in self-defense.

Referring to the case of Trayvon Martin shooting, Holder said: "separate and apart from the case that has drawn the nation's attention, it's time to question laws that senselessly expand the concept of self-defense and sow dangerous conflict in our neighborhoods."

In an address to an NAACP convention, the attorney general said it is time to question laws that "senselessly expand the concept of self-defense."

The attorney general said the country must take a hard look at laws that contribute to "more violence than they prevent."

Holder said such laws "try to fix something that was never broken."

(jeezzzz, native. There was a time when you would've realized I was agreeing with you.) This entire administration has been harmful and dividing. I can't help but think how different things would be if Herman Cain had won.

The fast and furious thing was set up to allow the administration to circumvent Congress and put heavy restrictions on gun manufacturing. It seems Obama promise to not go after guns only applied while running for office. They want slowly limit rights in baby steps give a little here wait for another school attack or theater attack then give some more. That is why nothing is being done on the national level to put veterans to work as security guards in schools. Cheaper than police and better able to handle a bad situation should it arise.

The White House Administration should refrain from making incendiary comments for political gain. "People in glass houses should not throw rocks"

Another thought. I find it hard to believe that the U.S. Attorney General doesn't understand this law. If you are an aggressor, Florida Statutes 776.013, a.k.a. the "stand your ground law", doesn't protect you. It is law which has a very narrow defensive purpose of protecting anyone who is in a place where they have a legal right to be and are set upon by a criminal or criminals intending to do bodily harm. It is also intended to protect others in the same basic situation. That is all there is to it. Under this law, as written, you are not allowed to be the aggressor. Period.
