WASHINGTON, D.C. -- FAA grounds Boeing 787 Dreamliner pending safety check of plane's lithium batteries.

Japan's two biggest airlines also grounded their 787 aircrafts for safety checks Wednesday after a plane made an emergency landing. It is the latest in a series of problems for the plane in recent weeks.

In all, Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines have 24 planes, nearly half the 50 planes that have been delivered worldwide.
