JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office blocked off part of Chaffee Road while the Florida Highway Patrol investigated a fatal crash Sunday morning.

JSO blocked Chaffee Road between 103rd Street and Normandy Boulevard around 10 a.m.

F.H.P. says a car was driving southbound on Chaffee Road when for unknown reasons the driver turned left into oncoming traffic. They believe rainy weather might have been a factor.

The crash turned into a chain reaction crash involving five vehicles.

F.H.P. says one person was taken to U.F. & Shands Hospital in Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries and one person was killed in the crash.

The highway patrol has not released details about any other injuries in the crash.

Chaffee Rd through there has very bad tire-track ruts that fill up with water in the rain. Bet the driver hydroplaned and couldn't manage to stay in his lane...
