FOP pension negotiations break down
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Both the FOP and the city are pointing fingers after attempts to compromise over pensions failed. Action News obtained letters from attorneys from both sides blaming the other for the breakdown.
The FOP says it refuses to go back to the table because city representatives failed to attend a meeting. They say that's a breach of the collective bargaining agreement.
The city is criticizing FOP President Nelson Cuba after he walked out of a meeting. Cuba told the city to take him to court when he stormed out on October 31st.
The city is still giving the FOP a chance to come back to negotiate. A city attorney says FOP must make contact before the close of business on Thursday.
