JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Beverly McClain knows loss. "It's a nightmare to lose somebody," she said.

In 2005 police found her son, Andre Johnston murdered in the Ribault River. Since then, Beverly founded Families of Slain Children and has spent the past six years helping others who have lost loved ones to violence.

"I just dedicated my life to helping others like myself because I know this pain. I know how it feels," she said.

But this weekend she became a victim to crime again. Someone broke into her building and stole a desktop computer and two laptops. "For someone to come in and violate us like this is unreal," said McClain.

The desktop had the names, pictures and information of hundreds of Jacksonville's victims and their families. And tonight no one knows where it is.

"We do a lot with that computer. And the two that were upstairs, the children use after school to do their homework," she said.

McClain hopes these computers are replaced soon, so she can continue to help grieving families heal. "We've helped thousands of people right here."

A local business has already stepped up to replace the broken window used in the burglary. And a security system will be installed to help keep break-ins like this one from happening again.
