Family says Waycross police used excessive force
WAYCROSS, Ga. -- A local family wants answers in the shooting death of their loved one at the hands of police officers.
Waycross police shot and killed 43-year-old Jack Roberson earlier this month. Investigators said he charged at officers with a grilling fork and knife.
Family members say he had a medical condition and raised his hands to surrender.
Roberson's family attorney held a news conference Wednesday in Jacksonville.
The family said police used excessive force. Attorney Chris Chestnut said pictures show officers shot Roberson nine times.
The attorney said the family is launching its own investigation into the shooting.
The family also wants the officers involved in the shooting reprimanded.
Roberson's funeral was Wednesday.
