ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Family and friends are remembering a local man hit twice by cars while riding on his bicycle.

They held a moment of remembrance Friday at 5:00 p.m. At Oceanway in St. Augustine for 49-year-old Christian (Chris) Schroom. His family tells Action News Schroom loved to meditate at Oceanway. They say they plan to spread some of his ashes there.

Police say Schroom was hit by two cars on Anastasia Boulevard in St. Augustine earlier this month. His brother thinks something may have gone wrong with the bike, forcing Schroom to hop off. That's when police say he was hit by the first car and dragged. Then, a second car hit him. Those motorists both drove away.

The St. Augustine Police Department says they are continue to search for clues in this case. If caught, the responsible drivers will most likely face vehicular homicide.
