NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- Nassau County was warned, but folks in Fernandina Beach never thought it would come to this.

"We heard loud banging noises and a crack a couple booms and a whole bunch of debris bouncing off the house," Bruce Barnard said. The Fernandina Beach resident hid in his closet as the storm rolled by.

Trees chewed up and spit right back out - after a tornado swept through the ocean oaks community - in a matter of seconds.

Eleven-year-old Abbie Barnard recapped those terrifying moments saying she and her family hunkered down in the closet.

"My dog was like on top of me crying the whole time so it kinda freaked me out."
