JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A father was convicted on multiple charges for allowing his 9-year-old daughter to be sexually molested by a family friend. We are not releasing his and other names in this case to protect the identity of the sexual abuse victim.
In May 2011, the girl told authorities she was repeatedly abused by registered sex offender, Robert Young. Evidence showed that Young spent the night in her bed on multiple occasions from August 2010 to May 2011. The girl's father, mother and grandmother are all accused of knowing that the abuse was going on and doing nothing to stop it.
Today her father was convicted of five counts of sexual battery, one count of lewd or lascivious molestation, one count of child neglect, and one count of conspiracy to commit sexual battery.
The girl's mother already pleaded guilty to charges of child neglect and conspiracy to commit sexual battery in August. Young is expected to go to trial at the end of the month. The trial date for the girl's grandmother has not been set. Another man accused of covering up the abuse will be sentenced next week. He pleaded guilty in July to a charge of lewd or lascivious molestation.
The girl and her two siblings were taken into foster care.
