Felon sentenced to violent sexual predator center
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A convicted felon who has been sentenced in separate crimes of a sexual offense on a child and attempted murder of another woman has been sentenced to be committed to a violent sexual predator center.
The state attorneys office says 41-year-old Danny Conley will remain locked up indefinitely at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia.
Over 20 years ago, Conley was convicted of a sexual crime involving a 5-year-old girl. After being released, he was sent back to prison after he violated his probation when he didn't comply with psycho-sexual treatment conditions.
After his re-release he was again arrested and convicted on attempted murder in 1994 after he stabbed a woman 17 times when she turned him down.
Conley has been out of prison since 2001 and at the commitment center in Arcadia, but this week he refused to show up in court for civil proceedings regarding his release.
After hearing victim testimony, a jury decided Conley should remain at the facility indefinitely.
