FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – On Tuesday, the Fernandina Beach Commission approved a plan to finance major upgrades and expand to the downtown library.
The controversial Forward Fernandina plan was originally passed by a different set of commissioners, prompting debate among current leaders and the community on the use of a $1.8 million loan.
In a 3-2 vote Tuesday, the commission approved $600,000 for the library, but agreed to pay back the rest of the money, which was supposed to be utilized for other upgrades around the downtown area.
