Fire crews battle flames at home in Hastings
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Firefighters are working to put out a house fire on the 500 block of Carter Street in Hastings.
St. Johns County Fire and Rescue responded to a call at 12:10 on Monday morning.
An Action News photographer on the scene said one person was taken away in an ambulance. He reports, the man suffered leg injuries after jumping from the second story to escape the fire. St. Johns County Fire Rescue said this person was treated for smoke inhalation at Flagler Hospital.
As of 5:45 a.m., crews were still in "overhaul mode" making sure the fire was completely out.
Fire rescue couldn't say how the fire started or if there was foul play. They said it is still under investigation.
Fire rescue said the home appears to be a total loss. They report three people were displaced and the Red Cross has contacted those who lived there.
