JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A fire broke out Friday night at 57 Heaven, temporarily closing the eastbound and westbound lanes of Atlantic Boulevard between Acme and Bowlan.
The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department says the call came in about 8:35 p.m.
About 50 firefighters responded to the fire, according to Jacksonville Fire Chief Martin Senterfitt.
There were about 30 patrons inside at the time the fire broke out. They reported smelling smoke and then immediately evacuated.
"I was at the front door when we saw smoke. We tried fire extinguishers, but then the flames started rolling on," said 57 Heaven owner Darrell Leake.
Leake believes the fire may have been caused by a neon sign shorting out.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
