JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- The wildfire danger will be very high the next couple days before some much needed rain moves into the area later Saturday.  In the meantime, gusty winds, low humidity and dry vegetation will combine for a very high fire risk through at least midday Saturday.  Highs will jump to near 80 degrees Friday and into the low to mid 80s Saturday.  There will only be a few scattered showers, especially over Southeast Georgia through Saturday morning before an approaching cold front increases rain and a few thunderstorms for Jacksonville, Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia late Saturday into Saturday night.

Why do we not clean out dead underbrush and chop down old, rotten trees towards the end of the year instead of leaving it all there to rot until spring to further fuel fires that will end up costing a fortune to put out and probably costing lives as well? So many unemployed? So many Fla. Correctional Inst. trustees are available. Get the homeless to help, giving them a chance to earn a bed in one of our MANY empty buildings that could be spruced up at least enough to be better than living on the streets! Some plumbing and new wiring and a load of beds, refrigerators and some throw rugs! I'll bet they would work for it. What's wrong with everybody? How are so many in charge losing the ability to recognize what's been staring them in the face all along? C'mon guys. Make us proud and do the right thing. Remember Honor and Honesty, Integrity and EMPATHY? That's what we expect from you. You've got our money. Spend it wisely! Quit giving out unearned and questionable bonuses and padding pensions and paying salaries beyond the cap PUT THERE FOR A REASON and all kinds of expenditures that might be okay for a KING but doesn't fit our city budget. And stay away from Turner Const.! What does it take for you guys? A brick wall? Turner can get you a faulty one at a lovely, outrageous price that enables them to continue laughing at you "deciders" as it falls on your heads..... causing a disappointingly loud echo heard through Jacksonville and ANOTHER fat payment into the Turners pockets.
