Fire destroys Westside hotel
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An early-morning fire destroyed a four-story hotel under construction near the corner of 103rd Street and Harlow Road on the Westside.
The fire started around 3:30 a.m., and took dozens of firefighters several hours to put out the flames.
Lt. Mike Peery with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department says the Value Place Extended Stay hotel was scheduled to open in 2014.
No one was injured in the blaze.
So far, there's no word on what caused the fire to start at the construction site.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is tasked with investigating the flames.
