STARKE, Fla. -- A Friday evening fire displaced a family of three in Bradford County.

Police discovered the flames during a routine patrol in the 1000 block of East Market Road around map.

Firefighters from several agencies were called in to fight the mobile home fire.

According to the homeowner, a lamp had fallen over in a back bedroom and started a small fire previously that day and the family thought it was OK to leave home.

The family was not home at the time of the second fire.

The Red Cross is providing assistance to the family.

“We provided a place to stay and financial assistance for them and the child,” said Marvin Artman, a Red Cross Disaster Assistance Team member.

A police investigation is ongoing as a result of a marijuana plant found on the property.

The mobile home is a complete loss.

Emergency management considers the fire to be an accident.
