JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Around 8 am Jan Vath heard an explosion and thought there was a car accident outside of her bedroom.

She looked out the bedroom window, didn't see anything, went to the window by the car port and found it on fire.

She says something exploded on the car port floor

"We think it might be something malicious, the fire marshall will be investigating," she said. "We've had some things going on the past few weeks, and we've had to call the police department out. I'm just thankful everybody was safe."

The Fire Marshal confirms the incident is being investigated for arson.

Jan's husband was at work, but she had a friend over. They both got out safely. Neighbors were able to break in and save her two dogs, Gracie and Tebow.

Despite losing a large piece of her property and her car to the flames, she says she's very thankful.

"Things can be replaced. Lives cannot."
