COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- An initial investigation by law enforcement agencies has found that the fire that claimed the life of Lake City Police Brandi Jackson was not suspicious in nature.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says a fire engulfed a home on Dante Terrace just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

The home belonged to Lake City police investigator David Greear.

Deputies say Greear was able to escape from the flames with minor injuries.

The CCSO says the blaze appears to be nothing more than a tragic accident.

The investigation by multiple other state agencies is ongoing.

" 'tragic accident' " tell us absolutely nothing. Or is that the intent?
