JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One of the fastest growing watersports in the world made its Jacksonville debut Saturday in the Fidelity Investments Dragon Boat Festival.

More than 700 athletes paddled their boats in numerous 400 meter races downtown, cheered on by spectators along the banks of the St. Johns River.

The event featured a traditional dotting-of-the-dragon's-eye ceremony, coupled with demonstrations by Chinese dancers.

Our own Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Mike Buresh served as the emcee for the event.

The daylong festivities benefited In the Pink, a locally-based organization that provides assistance and support to those undergoing cancer treatment.
