JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Travis Maye and Steven Pender are accused of doing the unthinkable with the help of two teenage boys. Together, police say the four young men took turns "forcing intercourse" on a teenage girl.
A fifth teen suspect is believed to be the victim's boyfriend. He is accused of holding her down during the incident.
Action News visited the neighborhood where several of the suspects live and spoke with the aunt of the three teenagers police say were involved in the gang rape. Myrtle Norman says the accusations against her nephews are simply untrue.
"It just doesn't make sense for anybody to concoct a lie, just to ruin someone's life like that," said Norman.
She also says her nephews were friends with the victim and that her story simply doesn't add up.
"I know that girl was hanging out there with all these guys all the time," she said.
The suspects are being detained on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment.
