JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- A mother is in utter disbelief as she reads the detailed police account that describes her 22-year-old daughter, Arianne Myles, shooting and killing her ex-boyfriend, Harold Davis, in broad daylight, outside a Blanding Boulevard post office.
"I'm disappointed, I'm shocked, I'm depressed, I'm sad," said Myles' mother, Jasmine. "I'm just, I don't know what to do. All I can do is just pray."
Myles is a recent graduate of Flagler College's art program. Her family says she was a peaceful person, who spent most of her time painting landscapes in her backyard; a far cry from the accused killer whom police say took a life in a post office parking lot.
Myles' mom says she doesn't even know how her daughter got her hands on a gun.
"We do not like guns," she said. "I'm not a violent person, so I was surprised to hear that."
This mom was even more shocked to learn, police say, she had the capacity to kill anyone, let alone her ex-boyfriend.
"They had a good relationship. I don't know what happened," she said. "Harold's family, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry for what has happened."
As she searches for answers, Myles' mom says she prays for her daughter.
"She's still our daughter and will always be our daughter despite what happened, we're going to be there for her," she said.
Police say Myles is still in the hospital recovering from injuries she obtained while fleeing from police and crashing her vehicle.
