PALM COAST, Fla. -- Flagler County investigators say a Matanzas High School English teacher had sex with a 16-year-old student on multiple occasions.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office says its investigation into James Wolfe, 31, started Aug. 14th after the victim came forward with her allegations.

During an interview with investigators, the victim reportedly told them that on one occasion Wolfe had taken her to his home where he provided alcohol and a type of drug that made her feel more relaxed.

"This man violated his position of authority as a teacher, coach and mentor of a young student and upon conviction should be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. He should never be allowed to harm another child," said Sheriff James L. Manfre.

Melissa Derosa lives steps away from Matanzas High. She says crimes like these happen far too often.

"Even at my high school we had things like that happen with the teachers and with the security guards," said Derosa.

According to police, the alleged crimes happened over nine months, from August 2010 to May 2011, when she was 16 and he was 28. The victim reportedly told investigators she felt compelled to engage in sexual activity with Wolfe because of his position as a teacher and track coach.

Wolfe faces seven counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a second-degree felony.

According to the Flagler County Schools Superintendent Janet Valentine, Wolfe has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Wolfe has posted a $140,000 bond and is now awaiting his next court date.

This is not a story about GAYS. This is about a man who was entrusted to TEACH ENGLISH/TRACK...not SEX ED. He took advantage of a foolish child by giving her drugs and alcohol. This is NOT a teen/teen relationship. This is a grown man abusing a young girl. Fire him and charge him fully. He can not be trusted in a school setting. Some of you forget what it's like to be that young. You have no brain. It's up to the adults to guide you the right way.

One more thing why is it ok for a 43 year old Gay Congressman to have sex with a boy 17 and no charges, yet a straight man having sex with a 16 year old girl that is within same age area such huge evil crime? Shouldn't the former member of Congress be in jail as well ? Oh wait us peons forget there is different set of laws for rich and gay people.

16 year old gets in trouble so says she felt can't say NO. There is old saying 16 will get you 20, however, keep in mind at 16 she is old enough to say NO. What about straight men in the military forced to shower with gay men? If you were to force women in the military to shower with straight men all hell would break lose. Forcing straight men to shower with gays though that is ok doesn't violate them.

Things as this are becoming commonplace today! Yes the adult/teacher bears all responsibility…But where is the common sense and responsibility of the "child"or the parent…Knowing what the "child " is doing? "We" are so involved in ourselves today!!! Have we forgotten that our children need us now, more than ever, with all of the 'garbage' that goes on in our society today. You have a child???? That child is your first, foremost, and everything!!!! Wake up!!! Put you 'devices' away, and pay attention to your kids!!!!!
