TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida counties reported the year 2012 saw the greatest number of hate crimes in nearly four years, according to documents released Tuesday from Attorney General Pam Bondi's office.

The report states 170 hate crimes occurred and were usually provoked by race.

The increase represents an uptick of more than 22 percent from the number of hate crimes reported in 2011.

Local counties accounted for 33 of the 170 crimes.

Orange County reported 32 hate crimes -- the most out of any county in the state.

The report does not explain what the state's top law enforcement officers believe is the cause for the recent increase. The report states 170 hate crimes occurred and were usually provoked by race.

5 black men beat white guy to death torture him no hate crimes charges. 3 white guys beat a black guy up instant hate crime charges. Go figure. Anything the government says lately is lie. Sick Desert Storm vets learned about the honesty of the "new" government first hand. Enough crimes there to indicate many people including the Bush family that is why they don't and will not discuss. If you believe everything the government tells then one step closer to a feudal or fascist society depending on your party affiliation. Yes there is racism in Fla but to bad the Trayvon Martin supporters refuse to acknowledge the criminal he was even after his cell phone texting was made public.

Gunny48, the media doesn't have the guts to post the data that you want to see and anyone with an iota of intelligence knows why.

This is sad. I really like Florida but this has been a problem . I know when I came to Florida I was unaware of that term hate crime but quickly found out the meaning. Once medical school starts for this kid up north I know I won't be returning to Florida.

Should any of us (black or white) be surprised? The media (IMHO) stokes this at every chance! It's what 'sells'!
