Food truck ordinance moves forward in Jax Beach
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- An ordinance to allow mobile food vendors at the beach has cleared another hurdle.
The City Council just passed the first reading on this hotly-contested issue.
Previously, the trucks like these were only allowed to sell during festivals.
For the next year, food trucks will be allowed to operate with certain conditions.
They can't park within 150 feet of any residence and must get written permission from businesses before setting up in their parking lots.
Local business owners fought the move, saying it will take a bite out of their profits. Food trucks also don't have to pay certain taxes.
