JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- If you don't feel like grilling out or can't bring your own barbecue to the stadium, you're in luck. This Sunday there is a whole new way to tailgate before the game and it's called super food truck.
Some may choose the lettuce wraps, others the burger and fries, but whatever it is you decide to order from Super Food Truck, it's probably going to be pretty good. Owner Richie Haugk says, "It's an eclectic menu. We try to gear a little bit more toward super food. Stuff that's good for you. Aside from that it's really all about flavor combinations."
Richie Haugk has been a chef for more than 17 years. About six months ago, he opened this food truck, and business has been booming. "Everybody loves it. The public demand is very high. Everybody really loves what were doing just a hot quick fresh meal that's on the go," says Haugk.
Haugk is a big Jags fan and dreamed of finding a way to combine his love for food with his love of football. "Big time jags fans over here. Love to be down there. There's tons of people down there. We had the opportunity to do it and were very glad about it," he says.
Sunday will be their first game. Haugk says, "There'll be table set up, chairs, tents, umbrella. We're going to have music. We have free internet, so anybody fantasy football people want to check their scores on their laptop." Fans say they're excited about having a variety of food choices. Ima Wilson says, "The menus different and the price is reasonable so yah it's a really really good idea."
Haugk says he's glad downtown is allowing food trucks, and thinks this will be the beginning of a long tradition for them at Jags games. "We're pretty much booked at the same location every game this year. So I intend it's going to do very well," he says.
Super Food Truck will be parked near the JTA game day shuttle service, in the convention center lot. They will open at 10a.m.
