Former Clay IT director facing new charge in grand theft probe
GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A former IT director for the Clay County clerk of Court faces new charges.
Detectives arrested 37-year-old Michael Hamilton last December on charges of dealing in stolen property and giving a false name to a pawnbroker. Investigators say he stole and pawned electronics from the clerk's office.
Investigators re-arrested Hamilton on a new charge of schemes to defraud, which represents more than 80 cases against Hamilton.
Authorities are working with Clerk of Court Tara Green to locate any additional missing equipment. Detectives have recovered about 60 percent of the pawned items. An estimated $15,000 worth of equipment remains missing.
