JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Every day, parents line up to pick up their kids from San Mateo Elementary School.
But according to Brieanna Pelham, a San Mateo parent, every day for quite some time there has been one rebellious gold SUV. She just didn’t know how rebellious until last week.
"She was all the way at the start of the semi-circle when there was at least a block of room that she could move up to,” said Pelham describing the vehicle’s location on March 13.
The “she” Pelham is referring to is Kimberley Henderson Mote, 47.
Pelham was driving directly in front of Mote the day police say Mote intentionally struck a San Mateo school teacher with her car three times. The teacher, Kathrine Toban, had been directing traffic at parent pickup.
Pelham says she saw it all.
"She's telling her (Mote) to stop, she didn't want the other car to get hit, and that's when she just started to gun it. If Ms. Toban didn't jump out of the way she would have went under,” said Pelham.
According to the police report, as the victim was waving other parents around the suspect’s car who refused to move forward, the suspect suddenly started to drive up and bumped the teacher’s leg with the bumper of her car three times. Then, the report says, Mote rolled down her passenger window and said “Next time I will roll you over.”
Action News has learned, just last year Mote worked for the Duval County school district as a guidance counselor at Baldwin Middle-Senior High School.
"It's amazing. Somebody who is supposed to be telling our kids emotionally what to do, is emotionally unstable herself,” said Pelham. “Honestly, it's like a loose cannon. If she can do that to one of the teachers, what is she able to do to the parents as well.”
Because Mote is married to a JFRD fire chief her mugshot is not considered public record, according to Jthe Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Mote is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Clerk records show Mote is not allowed to have any contact with the victim or go within 2,500 feet of school grounds.
