ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. --  A lawsuit has been filed against the Hastings Youth Academy in St. Johns County after a teenager says a worker broke his arm.

Gainesville attorney, Larry Marraffino, is representing the former juvenile inmate who was 16-years-old at the time of the incident.

Marraffino showed Action News surveillance video from inside the Hastings Youth Academy.

The video shows the boy getting taken to the ground by what appears to be two academy employees.

Marraffino says his client's arm was broken as he was shoved to the floor and he’s needed several surgeries since the 2008 incident.

Marraffino says one employee was fired because of the incident.

The State of Florida, along with the Department of Juvenile Justice, the private company that runs the facility, and the employee who lost their job are all named in the lawsuit.

The Hastings Youth Academy did not return our phone calls when Action News  asked for a response to the lawsuit.
