Former corrections officer in standoff with Baker County deputies
MACCLENNY, Fla. -- A former officer with the Department of Corrections is facing charges following a standoff that forced the evacuation of two local neighborhoods.
Deputies with the Baker County Sheriff's Office say they orginally received a call about a man threatening his mother, wife and himself. Deputies arrived at the Fox Ridge subdivision at 3:20 p.m. Monday to find Evan Michael Rhoden barricaded inside his home.
Two hours into the standoff, Rhoden came out of the home armed with a gun. Deputies were able to take him into custody without firing shots. Investigators say they recovered several more guns inside the house.
No one was injured during the standoff. Rhoden is facing two charges of aggravated assault.
Deputies say Rhoden was arrested a few weeks ago on unrelated charges.
