Four killed in crash; U.S. 90 reopens outside Sanderson

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. -- A portion of U.S. 90 was closed for hours after a deadly head-on collision in Baker County. The road is now open.

The Florida Highway Patrol says four people died in the crash.

The scene is just west of I-10 headed toward Columbia County.

Action News has learned the crash happened just before 9:20 a.m.

According to FHP, two vehicles were traveling in the opposite direction on U.S. 90 when one crossed the center line and crashed into the other.

According to a preliminary investigation by FHP, two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a Ford Explorer were involved in the deadly crash.

The SUV flipped on impact and caught on fire.

Both occupants in the Corolla were killed and two of three people in the Explorer died. The driver of the SUV managed to escape from the burning vehicle with the help of paramedics and was flown to UF Health Gainesville.

FHP has not identified any person involved in the crash.

According to FHP, an 8-mile stretch of U.S. 90 was closed for most of the afternoon.
