ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Clerks at four convenience stores have been charged with selling alcohol to a minor, as part of St. Johns County's effort to fight underage drinking.

Authorities sent a 17-year-old girl into 14 different places last month to see whether the clerks would sell her alcohol.

Four businesses sold her alcohol, ten others refused.

A 75-year-old woman sold the teen a 4-pack of beer at a Kangaroo station on US 1 North. A 44-year-old man sold the teen a 4-pack of beer at a Hess Station on SR 207. A 58-year-old woman sold the undercover teen a 4-pack of beer at the 7-Eleven on US 1 South. A 51-year-old woman sold the girl a 4-pack of beer at the Kangaroo station on US 1 South.

The girl would show her real ID and give her true age if asked.
