PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A fraud ring that was cashing out checks at Publix and Hitchock's supermarkets in Putnam County has been stopped, according to deputies.
Detectives say Lindsay Smith, Robert Ostrender, Edward Zaccheo, and Bobbie Martin illegally obtained checks from friends and a defunct business.
Martin even printed several checks out at a local public school where she worked, Deputy Paula Priester said.
Smith and Ostrender visited several unsuspecting merchants cashing check until they were turned away by the businesses, according to detectives.
All of the suspects face charges related to fraud.
A fifth suspect has been identified in this case and charges are pending.
