OCALA, Fla. -- The funeral for the FSU student who was hit and killed on Thanksgiving morning in Marion County was held Saturday.

Alex McDonald, 23, was crossing South Pine Avenue around 1 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Joseph Stewart, according to the Ocala Police Department.

Police said Stewart left the scene and was arrested a few hours later.

He is charged with Hit and Run.

Action News has learned that it will be sometime next year before blood results come back and reveal whether Stewart was under the influence of alcohol the night of crash.

McDonald was the president of the Sigma Alpha Epilson fraternity.

Saturday's services were held at First Presbyterian Church in Ocala.
