BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Hundreds filled St Marks Episcopal Church in Brunswick with heavy hearts. Each of them paying their respects for Tom Sublett, a man they say was dedicated to public service.

"He should be remembered as a good commissioner, a good husband , and a good family person," said Former City Manager, Roosevelt Harris Jr.

"He was one of the nicest fellows I know," said Planning and Zonning Commissioner, Buddy Hutchinson.

Sublett was a Glynn County Commissioner, but he was also a father of four and grandfather of two. He was only 52-years-old. "There was some laughter during the service. Naturally there was some sadness. But it just portrayed him as who he was, a very good decent individual," said Harris.

Police found Sublett's body floating near the St Simon's Island Boating and Fishing Club early Tuesday morning. He was shot in the head, but died from drowning.

Investigators said his hands were bound in front of him.

"He was a very honest person. If he told you he was going to do something, that's what he did," said Hutchinson.

Police are investigating Sublett's death as a homicide. But so far they have not named any suspects. Family and friends here say they are still dealing with the loss. "Yes, he will be missed," said Harris.

They filled this church to say good bye with prayers for justice for their local leader.

The Glynn County Police Department is also offering a $25,000 reward for information that will lead to an arrest for Sublett's shooting. You can call the Silent Witness line at 912-264-1333 or the Glynn County Police tip line at 912-554-7847.
