Gabbert impresses, leaves injured in Jags loss
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The Jacksonville Jaguars dropped a second preseason game falling to the New York Jets 37-13. Blaine Gabbert led the Jags to a 13-10 halftime lead but Jacksonville was unable to score in the final 30 minutes.
Gabbert ended the night 13-16 passing for 165 yards and a touchdown but also left with his immediate future in question. The Jags quarterback sprained his thumb on his final play of the night hitting a Jets defensive lineman while throwing an incompletion. X-rays were negative on the thumb but if and how long Gabbert will be out remains in question.
On the other end of the spectrum it was the return for Maurice Jones-Drew, ten months since his last football game. Jones-Drew carried the ball just three times for nine yards but did catch a pass in the flat and took it 20 yards to set up the Jags first score. Jones-Drew participated in the preseason game to get a look at the tempo of the new Jags offense.
The Jaguars return home next Saturday night to host the Philadelphia Eagles.
