JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Tropical Storm Gabrielle weakened back into a tropical depression in the Caribbean.

As of 11 a.m., the depression had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and was moving to the northwest at 9 mph. It's located about 105 miles west-southwest of Ponce, Puerto Rico.

All tropical storm warnings for the system have been cancelled.

A wind speed of 39 mph is the minimum necessary for a system to be classified as a tropical storm.

The storm's official forecast path from the hurricane center shows it dissipating just north of the Dominican Republic on Friday.

Gabrielle was the 7th tropical storm to form in the Atlantic basin this year. No hurricanes have yet formed. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November.
