Georgia-Florida fans prepare for Sandy
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Georgia-Florida fans are ready for the big game, but they're also getting ready for Hurricane Sandy.
Gator fan Butch Newkirk practically brought the house to RV City this year. His tailgate is filled with tables, chairs, tents, and decorations that all had to be anchored to coolers.
"We started anchoring down this morning. When we got up the wind was blowing pretty hard, so we tied everything off best we could on the concrete."
Mayor Alvin Brown believes Sandy will play a role in this weekend's game, but he says the city is ready. He wants fans to have fun, but take caution.
"Make sure you have your stuff tied down and make sure your chairs are taken care of, and for the most part it should be fine. We want to showcase Jacksonville as a destination for sports, and being sure we're ready in a situation like Sandy is a priority for the city and local law enforcement."
