Georgia-Florida fight victim recovering
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --It's a brutal brawl that was caught on camera during one of college football's biggest rivalries. It shows fists flying as two young men duke it out in a retention pond outside of Everbank Field.
Police say 20-year-old James Colby punched 21-year-old William Ross Cesery III unconscious. Colby is now facing aggravated battery charges.
"I think it's ridiculous. It's a football game," said a neighbor.
We went to Colby's Middleburg home, but had the garage door closed in our face. But a neighbor did tell us that he thought the whole thing is a shame. "It's a game. Enjoy it. No one needs to die over it."
Cesery was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition. But his father tells Action News he was released Sunday night with a few stitches. He is expected to make a full recovery.
His father also said that his son had been going to the Georgia-Florida game almost his entire life. And is thankful that his son will be able to go to another one.
20-year-old James Colby is in jail with a $250,000 bond. His next court date is November 20th.
