Bradford County, Fla. -- Action News has exclusive access as a local police agency tries to clean up neighborhood streets.
Action News was right there, as officers moved in, to give you an up close and personal view of just how intense these situations are. With their guns drawn, police went in, looking for drugs under the bed and through the house. They're trying to clean up the streets where kids play.
One little boy lives across from a suspected drug dealer. We were there as the man known as "sugar man" was taken into custody. Police found an empty pill bottle in his pocket. We confronted him about the charges. "Anything to say about the arrest," asked Action News Reporter Catherine Varnum. The suspect replied no.
The officers are part of a special team cracking down on drugs. They're called BUSTED. Thursday, they put a mother and her two children behind bars. They say the family has been dealing and selling drugs for years. Inside the home, police found crack and 2100 dollars in cash. The sheriff's office says this is just the start of building a safer neighborhood.
Police say they have enough proof to take these guys to jail, so children can feel good about calling this neighborhood home. They've been tracking these guys for weeks. They used confidential informats and have taped conversations and video of drug buys. So they're pretty confident they have the right people.
