JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Even though the Jaguars didn’t make it to the Super Bowl, Tom Coughlin's winning smile can be contagious in Jacksonville, all thanks to the footprint he left on our city.
"I think all the Jaguars fans and people in Jacksonville were Giants fans last night rooting for Tom because he did so much here to start the franchise off in the right manner as the head coach," said Tony Boselli, who used to play as a Jaguar for Coughlin.
In one of the greatest kick-offs of his Jaguars career, Coughlin launched the Jay Fund, a non-profit that provides financial and emotional support for local children with leukemia, and their families.
"All of that remains in Jacksonville the funds that are raised in Jacksonville stay in Jacksonville and benefit the Jacksonville community," said Jay Fund board member, John Crawford.
Coughlin left his fund under the watchful eye of his daughter, Keli, who still lives in Jacksonville. She called Action News from Indianapolis with good news; her father's Giants win has attracted attention to his Jacksonville fund.
"We got quite a few donations from people that wanted to honor him personally or the New York giants for their win and therefore made contributions in his honor of the Giants Super bowl victory," said Keli.
Jay fund is expecting even more contributions following the Giants' win. When Coughlin won the Super bowl in 2008, the group saw a 10% increase in revenue over the previous year.
"We saw a ton of excitement of people you know wanting to be a part of our organization," said Keli.
