JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A mother charged with selling her daughter for drugs testified in court Wednesday.

Dalina Nicholas is accused of selling sex with her daughter for drugs and money.

Nicholas was present in the courtroom but no cameras were allowed inside because her daughter spoke. The only people allowed inside the courtroom were the judge and the child protection team.

Duval County court records indicate Nicholas' next hearing is on October 25.

Her final pretrial is set for Nov. 1 with jury selection set to begin on Nov. 5.

According to John Harrell with the Department of Children and Families the daughter is talking with a child protection team and psychiatrists and likely will for the rest of her life. DCF is working toward terminating Nicholas' parental rights.

DCF is happy the incident was reported and asks that all child abuse incidents be reported to the hot line at 1(800) 962-2873.

There is NO justification for this kind of child abuse! My prayers and heart goes out to this little girl who must surely be struggling to put her life back together at such a young age after not being able to trust the very individuals who are supposed to make sure she was safe and protected to begin with.
