PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- THE PLAYERS Championship is ready for action thanks to international volunteers.
Some of the greatest greenskeepers from across the globe are helping prepare TPC Sawgrass repair the damage left from the recent rainfall.
John Deere partnered with the PGA TOUR to recruit 70 turf experts from all over the world.
They are all volunteers who were scheduled to arrive here before the storm and had no idea how badly they'd be needed.
The course already has permanent pumps to suck water off the greens, but they needed more.
Lucas Andrews, a TPC superintendent, said, "We brought in the biggest pumps available to us in Jacksonville."
The course was closed to spectators while it dried out on Monday, but will reopen to fans tomorrow.
Bill Hughes, general manager of the TPC, said, "It may be a little bit wet off the playing surfaces outside the cart paths. But other than that, [Tuesday's] going to be a spectacular day at TPC Sawgrass."
