BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Southeast Georgia System has welcomed Glynn County's first baby of the new year at the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center in Brunswick.

Kayce Kelis Coleman was born January 1, 2013 at 4: 44 a.m. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 3 oz., and measured 18-1/2 inches long. Kayce is Alecia Wright and Casey Coleman's first child. Her proud grandmother, Linda Wright, of Brunswick, was also present at the birth.

Kayce was one of three baby girls born on New Years Day at the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center. According to the new mother, she arrived at the Center with mild labor pains shortly after 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and she was surprised that Kayce was the first baby of the year. "She was due on January 4 so I didn't expect to have her on New Years Day," she said, smiling. "The nurse told us she was the first baby of the year right after she was born."

Each year, more than 1,500 babies are born at the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center, which was completely renovated and expanded in 2010.
