TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott has made the announcement on Facebook of Florida's new Lt. Governor.
Scott announced it on his Facebook page
around 9 a.m. Tuesday that Lopez-Cantera is the new Lt. Gov. Scott also
scheduled a Department of Children & Families budget event in Miami — where Lopez-Cantera is currently the property appraiser.
Lopez-Cantera, 40, is a former state legislator and an ally of U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.
His appointment comes almost 10 months after Jennifer Carroll abruptly resigned after she was interviewed by law-enforcement authorities about work she once did for a charity that prosecutors have said was a front for a widespread gambling ring. Carroll, of Jacksonville, has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
