PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.-- The governor was in town to sign a new concussion bill into law to help young athletes.

Students will now have to get the green light from a doctor before stepping back onto the field. They will also be required to leave the field immediately. The law also requires an informed consent about the risk associated with concussions prior to a student joining an athletic team.

Many say it forces athletes to take concussions seriously and not push themselves too far, too fast.

The bill goes into effect for this current school year.
