TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A southern style picnic is up for grabs as Florida and South Carolina's governors make a friendly wager on this weekend's ACC vs. SEC tilt.
Florida governor Rick Scott says he's willing to pay up with a key-lime pie if the No. 4-ranked Seminoles lose to the No. 10 Clemson Tigers Saturday. Nikki Haley has countered with barbecue.
"Our high schools, universities and NFL teams have proven time and time again that Florida is the number one state for football, and there is no doubt the 'Noles will win this weekend," said Governor Scott. "I really appreciate Governor Haley taking part in this wager and look forward to enjoying some BBQ from her great state."
Governor Haley say she has confidence in head coach Dabo Swinney and is enjoying the pregame chatter.
"With college football season in full swing and two South Carolina teams ranked in the top 10 (the University of South Carolina is ranked 7th in the AP Poll), it was great to hear from my friend and fellow college football fan Gov. Rick Scott," said Governor Nikki Haley. "When he called and started talking smack about the Clemson-Florida State game, I told him I had confidence in Coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers, who represent our state well and make us proud, and I was happy to put a friendly wager on the game."
