JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JoAnne Farley is one tough grandma. She fought off a more than 200 pound burglar with her bare hands.
"This is my domain, you don't just go into someone's house like that," she said.
The suspect, 32-year-old Alejandro Carlson may have thought he would have the advantage over 68-year-old Farley but his unwelcome trip to grandma's house quickly became his worst nightmare.
The burglar broke through the french doors of Farley's bedroom after breaking into her neighbors house. He tried to use her bathroom as a hiding spot, but Farley wasn't having any of that. She went right up to the bathroom door to confront him.
"I opened it like this and when I did he pushed it back at me and reached around and he grabbed me by the arm and pulled me in," she explained.
She said they chased and wrestled each other around the house. Her 68-year-old husband, Joseph, who recently had triple bi-pass surgery woke up from a deep sleep and grabbed his gun.
"I pointed it right at his face and said don't move," he said.
The couple held Carlson up in their living room while the waited for police to show up. Today the couple has a few extra locks on their doors, but looking back on that frightening morning, they say they're lucky they're here to talk about it today.
"He could have really hurt me," said JoAnne.
Carlson is currently in police custody being held at $50,000 bond.
